  • You fit into my arms

You fit into my arms as you always did,
Face between my breasts, head cradled
    By my encircling arm.
    Belly to belly, our legs
Entangled in the old familiar knot.
Your breathing deep and slow, content,
Secure within the warm, protective bed.

    Eyes open, I stare past
    Your morning-tousled head,
And watch the curtains, stirring in the draft
    From the noisy world.
My heart still beats against you,
    But my mind is elsewhere.

  • Vienna waits for me

So, the MOMD has invited me to go to one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in Europe with him and… I turned him down. Had to, I’m afraid.
In our exchange of emails, I rather diffidently mentioned that I had an idea for a conference theme, and when I expanded on it he got very enthusiastic and said he would suggest it to the ‘Board’
On Sunday evening he sent me an email saying the Board liked it, and: ‘Planning question - does it matter to you where we do it? Suppose it were Prague in May, Vienna in October or Budapest/Krakow in November? Would this be ok with you? If you were Project Leader, naturally we would pay your travel and accommodation.’…
Prague just happens to be high on my list of places I’ve never visited and would love to… but looking at the publication schedule for the magazine I’m going to be working on, I will be busy with the desk-top publishing in May, and also November, so it looks as though it will have to be Vienna in October. But hey, I guess I can go along with that – I’d been assuming it would be Oxford, if anywhere. And maybe I'll get to Prague some other time.
    Plus, it's a great song.

  • Anniversary

Logged on to this blog for the first time in a while, and realised that it's a year today since I set it up.
Lots has happened in that year - quite positive, on balance. I have so much work I've been turning it down - still only getting paid peanuts, but that's not the point, it's nice to be able to prioritise and not feel I have to take everything. Have been in touch with the MOMD, and it looks as though we could be doing a couple of projects together, I start my desk-top publishing work in September (which could be a bit of a headache in lots of ways, but still quite exciting - and more lucrative than most). Next week I'm off to the Royal Geographical Society conference, and best of all, the European sustainability group has got some funding to meet again, so we will be meeting up in Cyprus in October and Brussels again in November. (I doubt the Crazy Frog will be involved this time, but it will be great to be working with the rest of them again, and who knows, maybe I can persuade him to join us in Brussels for the weekend...)
