So, the MOMD has invited me to go to one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in Europe with him and… I turned him down. Had to, I’m afraid.
In our exchange of emails, I rather diffidently mentioned that I had an idea for a conference theme, and when I expanded on it he got very enthusiastic and said he would suggest it to the ‘Board’
On Sunday evening he sent me an email saying the Board liked it, and: ‘Planning question - does it matter to you where we do it? Suppose it were Prague in May, Vienna in October or Budapest/Krakow in November? Would this be ok with you? If you were Project Leader, naturally we would pay your travel and accommodation.’…
Prague just happens to be high on my list of places I’ve never visited and would love to… but looking at the publication schedule for the magazine I’m going to be working on, I will be busy with the desk-top publishing in May, and also November, so it looks as though it will have to be Vienna in October. But hey, I guess I can go along with that – I’d been assuming it would be Oxford, if anywhere. And maybe I'll get to Prague some other time.
Plus, it's a great song.

interesting to see how much of our 'new age' is really just regurgitation of such old ideas
-
- Friday, Feb. 01, 2008 @ 08:04:18

Has this comment become attached to the wrong post?-
- Friday, Feb. 01, 2008 @ 08:25:59

Maybe one of the fundamental differences between knowledge and wisdom: although the fund of knowledge is continually being added to, wisdom doesn't so much grow as has to be relearnt in each generation.

I think they are negatively correlated
-
- Saturday, Feb. 02, 2008 @ 19:26:18
I know what you mean

-
- Saturday, Feb. 02, 2008 @ 19:28:56
but as I have been losing my knowledge lately, I may still have some hope
-
- Saturday, Feb. 02, 2008 @ 19:41:05
hope, maybe.
Wisdom?????-
- Saturday, Feb. 02, 2008 @ 19:47:00
I'm not sure that hope and wisdom are negatively correlated
-
- Saturday, Feb. 02, 2008 @ 20:29:07
They could be independent.
But maybe they're positively correlated.
It would be nice to think so
-
- Saturday, Feb. 02, 2008 @ 10:59:50
So, I'm off to Cambridge today, in search of a little knowledge, maybe some wisdom, and a nice lunch
-
- Friday, Feb. 01, 2008 @ 08:03:18
which decision?
-
- Friday, Feb. 01, 2008 @ 08:23:48
make your pick
-
- Friday, Feb. 01, 2008 @ 09:25:12
I'm no good at making decisions.
-
- Friday, Feb. 01, 2008 @ 23:12:06
decision made
-
- Saturday, Feb. 02, 2008 @ 07:57:24
I emailed the guy in Oxford and asked him what's happening about it.
That decisive enough for you?-
- Saturday, Feb. 02, 2008 @ 09:38:44
what 'for me' got to do with it?
-
- Saturday, Feb. 02, 2008 @ 10:55:11
Surely you know by now my only wish is to please you (flutters eyelashes)

-
- Saturday, Feb. 02, 2008 @ 15:01:00
I am pleased
-
- Saturday, Feb. 02, 2008 @ 18:13:14
Then my work here is done.
